The Specialty Coffee Association of America presents the 2007 North West Regional Barista Competition hosted by Zoka Coffee Roaster & Tea Company, November 9-11 at Coffee Fest Seattle. Premier baristas throughout Washington, Oregon, and Alaska will test their skills on the espresso machine against one another for the title of 2007 North West Regional Barista Champion. The winner of the 2007 NWRBC will go on to compete in the semi-finals round at the 2008 United States Barista Championship occurring May 2 – 5, 2008 at the SCAA’s Annual Conference & Exhibition in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The competition encourages and recognizes excellence and achievement in the art and skill of serving and preparing espresso. Competitor’s must impress the judges as they prepare and serve 12 coffee beverages, including four espressos, four cappuccinos and four original signature drinks of their own creation – all within 15 minutes. Competitors are judged on station cleanliness, taste, beverage presentation, technical skills and total impression.
