One week away until the 2008 Mississippi Street Fair (or Mississippi Avenue Street Fair). This is probably my favorite of all the street fairs in Portland. Judging by the traffic already coming this way to last years post(s), it is one of Portland’s favorite festivals as well.

Mississippi Street Fair blurb from the Meadow:
The Mississippi Avenue Street Fair
July 12th, 2008: Mark your calendars! This year’s Mississippi Avenue Street Fair is going to be a doozie!
Mid-summer: Five entertainment stages, water fun and a wide diversity of activities. In addition to the High Noon Parade, there will be a rib-off contest, children’s games, artists’ booths, dunk tank, instrument making, dance performances, plant and farmer’s market, puppet shows, a giant community yard sale and much more. Don’t miss the Salted Ice Cream Bar at The Meadow!
Here is a post I wrote last year about the street fair including pictures and a video.
2007 Mississippi Street Fair Pics: Unicycle, Tall Bike, Dunk Tank
July 14, 2007 — Julian Chadwick
There were a ton of people out there today even though it was somewhat hot for PDX. I had a good conversation with the Personal Telco guys about the Metrofi Debacle. They are putting in Personal Telco all over Mississippi apparently (lucky!).
Several environmental and community groups were out there. There was also a lot of good food, art, crafts and music and you might get a taste through these pics.
Here is a video I made of Mississippi Street Fair Drummers
