Barfly Awards time — Fill out Your Ballots Now–”your personal creme de la creme of the PDX scene for a coveted 2007 Golden BarF!”

From Jen Lane at the BarFlyMag.com

Barfly Magazine Logo Portland, Oregon It’s BarFly Awards time once again! As of now, you have ONE DAY to nominate your personal creme de la creme of the PDX scene for a coveted 2007 Golden BarF! Fill out BarFly’s online survey to nominate your fave raves for BarFly Awards celebrating the local service industry, media, and artsy-fartsy contingents that keep Portland PORTLAND, and enter to win tickets to the social event of the season!

Act fast! Nominations close at precisely 11:59pm on Monday, October 29th, so hit the survey, now. Once our crack staff of CPAs collate and rank the popular vote, we’ll announce the top four nominees in each category on Tuesday, October 30th, and issue the remaining VIP invites for the Awards Gala on Sunday, November 4th, to our lucky drawing winners!

When making your nominations, please give as much identifiying info about the nominee, as possible - like their full name, where they work, phone number, their email address, MySpace, FaceBook, etc., stuff like that. We’re not going to sell anyone into white slavery or stalk them any more than usual, but we’ll need to track them down. Your answers will be kept completely confidential, and yes, you may nominate yourself (but don’t just say “ME”, give your name, please). Multiple nominees are hunky-dory, too. Multiple surveys from the same person - not hunky dory. One survey per person, please!

“Check out Portland’s 260+ happy hours”; Meet Tom Potter at one perhaps

A message from Bryan at UrbanDrinks.com (I like that he made it sound as it came from me–I didn’t edit this to come from him, because that is probably what I would say…sort of, but close enough)

Be sure to check out UrbanDrinks.com — they’ve added many new
features recently, including revamped user profile pages (mine is at
http://urbandrinks.com/people/JulianChadwick), and a so-easy-to-use-
that-a-fingerless-monkey-could *Edit Below*

-do-it star rating feature for bars and
restaurants.

You can literally rate your 50 favorite places in less
than five minutes. Also, if you have an account, you can add tags,
friends, photos of your nights out, and brutally honest reviews of
your favorite and not-so-favorite drinking holes.

Mayor Top Potter Portland Oregon

Edit: Bryan emailed me to say that this monkey-line probably didn’t come out right. But, you know, when you are visiting 260+ Happy Hours, you might get sloppy at times. I hit 4 or 5 a week, and I get sloppy :)

He wanted me to remove it but then he would lose 8 hyphen points; that kind of hyphen-domination would win any scrabble or boggle tournament–so it stays–and the point is that it is so easy to use that Tom Potter wouldn’t even need to create a committee to figure it out.

And as we all know, Tom Potter likes to drink beer and he likes his committees…so he probably is looking.

Sept 30: The Hive at Plan B: Another Message for Dave Mathews perhaps?

The Hive is at PLAN B tonight. This show, plus Heidi at the B-Side tonight means you never have to leave the B-Triangle (as Mr. Jeff coined it).

The Hive at Plan Be bar, Portland, Oregon 97214

This is from their orignal show there

Sunday: The Hive Has a Message for Dave Matthews

The Hive makes its big move to Plan B (formerly Acme) tomorrow. It should be interesting and you can read more about the Hive show at this earlier post (And The Lord Said, On Day Seven, I Will See Hive at Plan B Bar)

I asked Ms. Chris if she thought Dave Matthews was a musical genius or a musical prodigy–I mean come on–Dave Matthews* is changing people’s lives! Her response follows:

I’m sooo not a fan. I think he starts and ends every song very well, I actually like those parts, but the bridge is my kryptonite. So I’m being diplomatic and not siding either way. Better to just stay silent. Now if you asked about the Clash or Depeche Mode or The Guess Who. I could give you my opinion.

Thanks,

MS!!! Chris

Sept 30: Daily Stank Image Bank: Is it Christmas at the B-Side? Heidi is Bar-tending!

*Edit: I originally had the day as Oct 1st, but it is tonight, Sept 30!*
B-Side, Burnside, Portland Oregon
I love Tanya and Joel…I was there the first night the B-Side opened (and only broke one table and chair), and I was there looking for it the night before it opened (thanks for that tanya boobies, b-side, basement pub, bunside, portland oregontext-message BC).

BUT…Heidi is bar tending at the B-Side tonight (Tanya’s on vacations- lucky!). Yes, that Heidi, The one from Meat, and formerly of the BOG (Bar of Gods).
Simon Goetz the PageCrusher and the Mayor of Belmont

When I first moved to Portland, I met up with the mayor the second evening. He wasn’t the M.O.B yet, as he was living off Hawthorne (South of Hawthorne and north of 39th=dirty laundry= mayoral recall).

Anyway, he (and some others) took me Meat for Cats and Dogs, Burnside, Portland Oregonup to the Bar of Gods where we drank many $2 special beers and dropped about $50 to get past level 4 or 5 of Archanoid table-top (where did it go?!).

That is where I met Hiede. So, Heidi is my first Portland bartender, and she was top of the game before moving onto MEAT. Now, I don’t have a pet, but I’ve been to MEAT, see MEAT hoodies everywhere, and friends who have gone their swear by it–plus, ummm, it’s called MEAT!

Sept 8: “Why Tiger Woods is Moving to Portland” Part 2

A message from PDX PARK GOLF:

PDX PARK GOLF Tiger Woods Portland Oregon

With September being in the title of a bulletin, it indicates that summer is nearing an end. So come on out for possibly 2007’s last hot day in the Park. Sad we know - but let’s all go out having fun in the sun and most likely go for drinks at the Night Light Lounge following. They have a great sunny deck and an awesome happy hour menu.

Scheduled Tee time is 2:00pm at Powell Park (SE 26th & Powell).

More info: Sept 3: “Why Tiger Woods is Moving to Portland”

Daily Stank Image Bank: It’s Plan B Bar’s Weekend–Soap Box Derby and Bangaroo

I met with Jeff, the owner of Plan B (formerly Acme) a month or so ago and shot these pics…then, I liked what he’s doing over there I went again…and again, and took more pics…

Acme to Plan B-3

Jeff told me a lot of funny things–he’s an interesting person to speak with for sure. One that I remember is that he said Plan B completed the B(ermuda)-Bar-Triangle of this zone with the B-Side and the Basement Pub.

I love all three and am down to disappear in their triangle nearly anytime (big-ups Jeff, Tanya, Joel, Ingrid, Sandy!).

Plan B Bar - If Ain't Stiff, It Ain't Worth a @&$$

Saturday, the wonderful Mt. Tabor Soap Box Derby takes place. Afterwards, 3M (Atom 13, Pete Moss, Homonym) will be rocking the after-party at…guess…right–Plan B!

Sunday brings PRA’s 2nd Annual Bangaroo Party, where all kinds of things will be going on including someone taking on The signed PDX PIPELINE (american apparel) Thong. Oh yeah, that will be at…ummm…Plan B.

Plan B=Plan A for many of us this weekend!
