Daily Stank Image Bank: Malice at the Holiday Ale Festival

Malice at the Holiday Ale Festival, Portland, Oregon

I went to the Holiday Ale Festival yesterday with the Amplify-Interactive crew. There were a lot of people and a crazy amount of good beers. I had one in particular called Scaldis Noel that was 12%. That was some tasty but rough stuff (C-block didn’t fare so well for the experience of having one after 3 or 4 other beers).

Anyway, it is still going on–and you too might see Portland’s most famous adult dancer (also model, actress and Rock video essential), Malice, out there.

Warm, cozy, beer drinking…does it get better than that? No, no it does not. I said no. From Earlier post:

Nov 29: “The only beer festival in the Northwest to be held outdoors in the dark, cold and often wet month of December.”

Portland Oregon, Holiday Ale Festival

Check out HolidayAle.com if you haven’t recently seen a website that contains frames and looks like it was built with Microsoft Office/Frontpage in 98, here ya go. Good stuff…I remember those times…a simpler time indeed..now let’s drink some holiday ales

From Holiday Ale:

Welcome to the Holiday Ale Festival, the only beer festival in the Northwest to be held outdoors in the dark, cold and often wet month of December.

Despite chilly temperatures and often-inclement weather outside, attendees stay warm and dry at the festival under a large clear tent that covers the venue while allowing for views of the city lights. Gas heaters create a cozy ambiance under the boughs of one of the region’s largest decorated Christmas trees.

More than three dozen potent winter ales are featured at the event, all of which are created specifically to bring warmth and cheer to the holiday season. The beers are rich, robust and full of complex flavors.

Cheers to the Season!

“Check out Portland’s 260+ happy hours”; Meet Tom Potter at one perhaps

A message from Bryan at UrbanDrinks.com (I like that he made it sound as it came from me–I didn’t edit this to come from him, because that is probably what I would say…sort of, but close enough)

Be sure to check out UrbanDrinks.com — they’ve added many new
features recently, including revamped user profile pages (mine is at
http://urbandrinks.com/people/JulianChadwick), and a so-easy-to-use-
that-a-fingerless-monkey-could *Edit Below*

-do-it star rating feature for bars and
restaurants.

You can literally rate your 50 favorite places in less
than five minutes. Also, if you have an account, you can add tags,
friends, photos of your nights out, and brutally honest reviews of
your favorite and not-so-favorite drinking holes.

Mayor Top Potter Portland Oregon

Edit: Bryan emailed me to say that this monkey-line probably didn’t come out right. But, you know, when you are visiting 260+ Happy Hours, you might get sloppy at times. I hit 4 or 5 a week, and I get sloppy :)

He wanted me to remove it but then he would lose 8 hyphen points; that kind of hyphen-domination would win any scrabble or boggle tournament–so it stays–and the point is that it is so easy to use that Tom Potter wouldn’t even need to create a committee to figure it out.

And as we all know, Tom Potter likes to drink beer and he likes his committees…so he probably is looking.

Sept 8: “Why Tiger Woods is Moving to Portland” Part 2

A message from PDX PARK GOLF:

PDX PARK GOLF Tiger Woods Portland Oregon

With September being in the title of a bulletin, it indicates that summer is nearing an end. So come on out for possibly 2007’s last hot day in the Park. Sad we know - but let’s all go out having fun in the sun and most likely go for drinks at the Night Light Lounge following. They have a great sunny deck and an awesome happy hour menu.

Scheduled Tee time is 2:00pm at Powell Park (SE 26th & Powell).

CNN: Formulaic Writing on Portland Continues? Oh YES!

This was sent over to my Calvin (check out his site!)

  • Voodoo Doughnut (straight to the hole)
  • Ace Hotel (new and popular entrant into theses article, but Aced here for sure)
  • Hipsters (check, apparently they are at the Ace Hotel, and don’t raise my taxes for that Mr. Mayor)
  • Doug Fir (I think they licked the tables)
  • Powell’s Books (” Looking for something good to read?” -we are going with a check)
  • McMenamins (Bagdad baby…Kennedy School is so last year for these people)

Now, here’s a taste (small taste) of other subjects/places that could be covered…let me take you on a ride

ace hotel picnic

PORTLAND, Oregon (CNN) — In the winter, the residents of this Pacific Northwest city hunker down for the gray rain that drills the city sidewalks for days on end. Locals drink loads of strong coffee, read books and take up knitting with zeal reserved in other parts of the nation for church going or clubbing…Read More (not bad actually, and it has my ‘hood/park- Laurelhurst)

PS: CNN–I like that whole CNN PIPELINE idea you are running with, catchy name…sounds familiar though?
