2007 Barfly Award Pictures from Mount Tabor Legacy, 4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97215#1st: There are about 70 pics.
#2nd: I took most of them but someone else took a few there in the middle
#3rd: I don’t know who won or who a lot of people are in the pics. Mostly I put it on there when I knew, but not always.
#4th: iPhoto and I are not quite friends, so I didn’t edit or clean them at all. Sorry–I had a lovely relationship with Google’s Picassa before I got a Mac.
#5th: The party was a lot of fun for the two hours or so I was there. I did have to leave somewhere through it because I was tired and a bit under the weather.
#6th: Clicking on the photos will take you to PDX PIPELINE’s Flickr page and you can watch a slideshow there or you can just click here and watch the slideshow.
#7th:

If you know any of the people, who won etc…comment here and I will do something with that info.

THANKS BARFLY, THANKS MT TABOR LEGACY, THANKS other people who I should thank but forget…oh yeah, thanks to Busch (wow, I never thought I’d write that, but I drank ’em) for all the free beers.

Oh and also–“largest amount of tags ever award” post here on PDX PIPELINE beating out the previous post on this topic the day of show. Where is my bag of goodies?

In addition to the movie, the film’s producer will interview Korean War veteran Dick Raybould, Morris Buckwalter, formerly of Trailblazers management and sportswriter John Strawn about the book and about Halberstam.

While it may seem strange to have two sports speakers at an event about the Korean War, their inclusion makes great sense as Halberstam wrote as extensively in the realm of sports, as he did in politics. Halberstam was one of the great journalists of the 20th century and he is a worthy subject of this exciting new means integration of book and film media

Novmber 4: The Barfly Nominees are in and The Award Show is Today at Mt. Tabor Legacy

This is an invite-only event. Normally, I would not post invite-only here, but it was already on the Barfly website, and hey–you might know one of these people and possibly mooch one of their VIP tix…I mean, congratulate them. And why am I not up for “Most Good Writer”–sounds like it was written specifically for my illiteracy (rhyming on-timing!).

My lovely fall sickness seems to be nearly gone (the contagion is for sure), so I’m going to do my best to get out there tonight as several of these people are friends of mine (Atom 13, Malice, Chris Haberman, Phil Ragaway, William Slater – “hottest item not on the menu”= ha!). If so, expect some good pictures this coming week.

Now Non-contagious, Julian

Sept 27: final twilight farmers markets of 2007.

Update: 2009 Portland Farmers Market: Video, Pictures & Updates

This Thursday, September 27th, is the last day that the twilight farmers markets at Eastbank and Ecotrust will be happening this year. Both markets open for business at 3:30 pm and tear down starting at 7:30 pm.

So before you put your cute on and head up to Alberta for Last Thursday festivities, stop by one of the markets to load up on the best available fresh, local, organic produce, small-batch cheeses and artisan baked items, because I’m sure you’ve noticed that the mercury has been inching stealthily down and that means Portlandia’s six-month social hibernation is imminent…

Sept 26: oh em gee RAHZEL!!! (Hawthorne theater)

From Julian:

More on Portland music (155), SE/Southeast Portland (105) , Hawthorne Theater (3), and Hawthorne Street (10).

From

I love Yuri Lane. I love Fogatron. And I was especially delighted when Reggie Watts threw a little beatboxing action into his TBA multimedia performance at the Someday Lounge a couple weeks ago.

But the granddaddy of them all is Rahzel, the self-styled “godfather of noise.” My quibble with his chosen moniker is that, contrary to the negative connotations of the word “noise,” his (stuff) is in fact the dopest of the dope.

If you have never experienced his maxillojugular symphony “If Your Mother Only Knew,” then you have not witnessed some of the greatest sounds the human body is capable of emitting. As long as I am able to enjoy their beauty, there are some phenomena I just don’t need to understand: flight, faxing, and beatboxing.

Wednesday night, you have the opportunity to witness Rahzel in at least three dimensions at the Hawthorne Theatre.

I highly recommend that you get your (badonkadonk) there to check it out.

Fom Julian:

Hawthorne Theater Portland OregonI see no information on this show at their web site and calender. The author of this post (who never, ever, ever answers her phone or calls back–but finds the time to text at am amazing rate, costing me an ever growing $0.10 per text charges from the “new att”) texted me that is it in fact happening Wednesday, September 26th. Other than that…there is this info:

For Theatre & Bar General Info: nicholashawthornetheatre@gmail.com

1507 SE 39th Ave
Portland, OR 97214
503.233.7100

they don’t seem to like answering that phone either from my experience today…

11:00pm
2 Edits:

first, from Nicholas (President/Owner) at the Hawthorne Theater:

“Yes the show is confirmed. All tickets are on sale at ticketswest or ticketswest.com.”
see you there…..Nicholas J. Yannariello
President / Owner
Hawthorne Entertainment Inc.
Hawthorne Theatre
503-233-7100

and this was sent by a random birdie on myspace…

“RAHZEL CANCELLED ON US!!! We called Hawthorne Theatre to confirm. It’s a sad day.”

Hmmm…I guess that is why it is good to have the info on one’s site….
